About the book
This indispensable, practical Sarawak Handbook, currently in its Fourth & Twentieth Anniversary Edition, describes the most common medical conditions that junior doctors may encounter in the course of their duty in a typical Malaysian Hospital. It has maintained its prime objective and emphasis of providing a handy, portable and up-to-date reference to bedside management of medical emergencies and urgencies. The editors and contributors are local doctors, many of whom have become senior consultants, who had themselves went through the difficulty and hardship of manning district hospitals with the bare minimum facilities. Many a time, they had to deal with emergency conditions with the help of medical textbooks and distant consultations with specialist clinicians in faraway general hospitals. They have penned and organised their experience into this handbook. The content has been made as evident-based as possible. The result is a compact volume that, hopefully, will continue to serve as a constant companion to any doctors as well as paramedical staff dealing with medical emergencies at the frontline.
